to guidelines on tamper-resistance set by the Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid Services (CMS), demand for prescription and security paper

CMS guidelines state that for a security paper to be considered
tamper-resistant, it must contain at least one industry-recognized feature

Law
According to
legislation signed
by President Bush last summer, Medicaid prescriptions will only be
reimbursable if they are written on tamper-resistant pads. The law is
supposed to prevent illegally-obtained drugs by enforcing the use of
tamper-resistant "scripts." The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has
extended the
implementation deadline
date to April 1, 2008.
